Why I Love Haig Point

Haig Point is located on Daufuskie Island and is only accessible via their water ferry. The boat ride takes you through the back waters of Hilton Head Island. Look to your right and you’ll go past the beautiful homes in Spanish Wells. Go a little further, then look to your left, and you’ll see the famous Harbortown Lighthouse. In between, you’re sure to see everything from porpoises to paddle boarders, as the calm warm waters of the Lowcountry area attracts both wildlife and outdoorsmen alike.

Last weekend, we celebrated Kensey and John’s wedding at the Haig Point Lighthouse and Golf Club. For 30 minutes each way to and from the wedding festivities, I enjoyed nothing but the sound of the water churning beneith the boat engine and nothing in my sight except the beauty of the Lowcountry waters. After the rehearsal on Friday, I departed Haig Point on the 6:40 boat, which provided picturesque views of the sun going down. It was the perfect time to pull out my camera and play around a bit!

Commuting to Kensey and John’s wedding was really a treat. It was by far the most relaxed I’ve ever felt on a wedding day! Having 30 minutes to peacefully clear your mind of any fog and really focus on the day ahead was refreshing and rejuvenating. I can’t wait to do it again soon!!

Real Wedding: Kelly + Mike

Kelly and Mike tied the knot at the Omni Shorehouse on April 5th with family, friends and a lot of adorable little kids present. They both love children and come from large families with many nieces and nephews. They wanted the kids to be a special part of their day so they had all 12 of their sweet smiling faces take part in the ceremony as flower girls and ring bearers. What started out as a soggy and chilly spring day, ended up as a crystal clear night that was filled with laughter, love and some really great dance moves. Congratulations Kelly and Mike and thank you for allowing us to be part of such a special day in your lives!

Real Wedding: Lindsey and Chris

Lindsey and Chris were married on February 23rd at the Charles H. Morris Center in historic Savannah, GA. The bride and groom are both Savannah College of Art and Design graduated and are incredibly talented in the design world (you can read all about them here). Their love and passion for art translated into a wedding design that was filled with bold colors, sharp lines and a few non-traditional elements.

The ceremony took place on the back patio of the Morris Center with guests facing the brick facade. It was raining off and on that day, but Lindsey and Chris were determined not to resort to their Plan B until the very last second. We had a 50/50 chance of rain at the time of the ceremony so I decided to setup two sets of chair: one under the tent (plan B) and one in front of the building (plan A). At the very last moment…the very last second actually… the guests moved from the plan B chairs over to the plan A location and the ceremony went on without a drop of rain.

It was picture-perfect day for one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with and Greg Ceo was there to capture every moment on film. I can’t get enough of these beautiful pictures and hope you enjoy them as much as we do! Congratulations Lindsey and Chris!!

Weekend Recap: Kelly + Mike’s Wedding

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of watching Kelly and Mike exchange vows in front of 130 friends and family. They both love and adore children and since they come from large families with lots little tykes in it, they decided to incporporate them all into their special day. Their ceremony processional consisted of 9 bridesmaids and groomsmen plus 12, yes 12, children. It was a parade of flower girls and ring bearers for Kelly’s entrance down the aisle and was the most adorable processional I’ve ever seen!

Kelly and Mike wanted to create an altar that was inspired by an image they found online. Kelly could not stop gushing about how happy she was with the outcome of the altar. Emma Grace – 9 mos

Every afternoon, my 9 month old accompanies me to check the mail. She loves to pull open the mailbox door to see something new each time. Her favorite is when there is a padded envelope for her to crinkle and pop. She also loves the brightly colored flyers that typically get tossed in the trash.

Yesterday, however, it was my heart that skipped a beat when her little hands reached up to pull open the door. Propped up inside the mailbox was a big bright white envelope with the most beautiful hand-inked calligraphy I’ve ever seen. There is something so elegant about using the good old fashioned ink-dipped pens for today’s mail. It usually means something very special is inside!

Traci Green is a calligrapher based out of Murrels Inlet, SC and serves the entire Lowcountry areas for everything from invitations and place cards to chalk board and mirror art. Inside the envelope Traci sent me were several works of art from her collection. The invitation is letter-pressed from her hand-drawn design and is simply remarkable.
