You know the spring wedding season is in full swing when my dining room has suddenly converted into a favor and welcome bag assembly line! This week, I am putting together the sweetest welcome bags for guests attending Stephanie and Torey’s Savannah wedding on Friday.

Their guests, who are all staying at the historically haunted Marshall House, are going to be treated to local Savannah favorites such as: Savannah Bee Company’s Sourwood Honey with a Honey Comb Drizzler, Savannah Candy Kitchen’s Caramel Pecan Turtles, Byrd Cookie Company’s Key Lime Coolers and personally labeled water bottles.

I thought these gifts were just too sweet to not share with y’all! When it comes to Southern Hospitality, I can’t think of a better way to welcome your out-of-town wedding guests than in the form of sugary sweets made here locally.

Today marks the first day of spring, which is by far my favorite time of year and for good reason:

• Wedding season is in full swing!!
• I can finally break out the seersucker and pastel sundresses that have been sadly hiding in the back of my closet.
• The RBC Heritage Golf Tournament is just a few weeks away!
• Some of the South’s best festivals are taking place
• Blooming azaleas, dogwoods and wisteria are so beautiful, they’ll take my breath away
• Warm sunny days and cool crisp nights
• Did I mention, wedding season is in full swing?!!!

This spring, Embellished Events is excited and honored to be part of several Lowcountry weddings. Over the past year, we’ve spent many hours with these brides planning and designing their perfect day. Now that their Big Day is almost here, words can not describe how excited we are to finally bring this sweet celebration to life for couples who have become some of our dearest friends. Wedding days are full of joyous emotion, not only for the bride and grooms, but for us as well. I choke back tears as each and every one of our brides walk down the aisle. Seeing the happiness that exudes from within the bride and the look on the groom’s face as he watches her approach him is the sweetest gift for me. There is no greater reward to my job than being part of such a special celebration and seeing the joy in our couples eyes as their fairytale wedding unfolds into a reality.

When it comes to the details, the less matchy-matchy, the more trendy and stylish. From bridesmaid attire to stemware and furniture, creating a less uniform look makes for a one of a kind event.

When mixing up the decor, keep a few things in mind so that your event doesn’t look like a mismatched mess:

• When it comes to place settings, mix it up all you want, but keep the table linens similar.
• If you choose to mix up the linen patterns, keep a consistent look for the place settings and chairs across all tables.
• Keep your decor elements within the same color palette.
• Keep your china the same shape and size, but choose a variety of patterns.
• Choose an eclectic mix of chairs for the head table, but keep the guest seating uniform.
• Mix up your bridesmaid’s attire, but keep them within the same color scheme.
• Don’t go overboard. Pick one or two things to mix up in each location.
