Be Inspired by Mixed Patterns & Bold Accents

One of the best ways to challenge our creativity is to take the risk of coming up with new concepts for design and decor that our clients find inspiring enough to incorporate into their own event. Here we paired beautiful bold patterned table linens and accentuated them with various hints of eggplant details. We hope you find some inspiration in our designs for your upcoming wedding or other special celebration! Thank you to the fabulous team of vendors who worked with us on this project!

Tressa & Greg {married October 8, 2011}

Tressa and Greg were married on beautiful Hilton Head Island on Saturday, October 8. The weather was exactly as you would expect for the gorgeous month of October…mid 70’s and bright blue skies. Tressa and Greg are from the Washington DC area and decided to marry in Hilton Head after spending countless summers vacationing here as a child.

The bride’s favorite flower is the iris so it only seemed perfect to build her entire wedding theme around the flower’s beautiful colors of purple and yellow. Tressa and Greg’s favorite thing to do together is traveling around the world. They wanted to incorporate this personal touch into their wedding decor so they decided on a travel theme. From the aviation ceremony programs to the postcard place cards, every detail of Tressa and Greg’s wedding day was captured beautifully by the very talented Uriah Baet Photography.

Congratulations Tressa & Greg! May your marriage be blessed with a lifetime of love, laughter and happiness!
Best Wishes,
The Team at Embellished Events

We’re In Love With All Things Ombre!

{OMBRE!}

The French word ombre refers to a gradual change in color either from light to dark or from one color to another. Ombre is showing up everywhere from fashion design to wedding design and it’s no wonder why!  The gradient shades of color create a fresh and contemporary look without being overpowering. It will keep your wedding looking sophisticated and elegant while incorporating the perfect touch of drama.

You’ll see ombre popping up everywhere in the wedding industry. From wedding dresses and cakes to centerpieces and invitations, we’re loving all things ombre!

Top 5 Wedding Trend Predictions for 2012

The August/September issue of Event Solutions magazine featured trend predictions for 2012 weddings, as told by celebrity wedding planner David Tutera.

Here are his top 5 predictions for 2012 Wedding Trends:

  • Deep, Rich Colors – David predicts RED and EGGPLANT will be the most popular colors used in weddings next year.
Wedding Chicks
  • Personalizaton – Brides and grooms will incorporate many personal touches into their Big Day. From generational pictures of the family to sentimental items inherited from others, the rule is that there are no rules when it comes to incorporating things that your guests look at and automatically think of you as a couple. Did your fiance take you to a swanky restaurant for your first date where you enjoyed the most amazing dinner of your life? How about recreating the same meal and serving it as a plated dinner option (or family style version…see below)? Did you tour France together recently? How about a cappuccino bar with an assortment of authentic pastries flown in fresh from France? The sky is the limit on this trend, as every couple is unique in their own way.
Heirloom Chair
Start a heirloom chair to sit at during dinner and have it monogrammed with the bride and groom’s name each time it’s used for a wedding! Love this idea (as long as you can keep it clean)!

Table numbers double as guest book. Mark each table with a certain year anniversary and instruct guests seated at that table to write a message inside the card. You’ll be reminiscing and reading new notes every  year!

  • Family Style Dinner – What do you get when you take the social setting of dinner stations and the tradition of the plated dinner? A Family Style Meal! Guest will be forced to interact with one another over something they all have in common – FOOD! Each course is served on platters that are to be passed around the table (to your left of course). A great way to incorporate the personalization trend mentioned above is to incorporate pieces of heirloom china that have been in the family for years!
  • Metallics – Shades of gold and silver will be everywhere in 2012 and for good reason! Metallics are romantic and chic at the same time and can be incorporated in an infinite number of ways! I recently planned a wedding where we spray painted starfish gold and tied them with a beautiful bow and name tag for each guest to use as their place card! It was a unique twist on the seaside theme where the natural white starfish are everywhere. It created a little surprise and delight to the guests as they sat at their table.

  • Unique Juxtaposition – Weddings will have an interesting combination of styles that will surprise and please guests. David noted some examples as being a garden themed wedding at a beach front venue or filling a sparse venue with lush florals.

Say “I Do” with Something Blue!

You hear it time and again that the bride must have something old, something new, something borrowed  and something new, but do you know why this is so? The saying comes from the Old English rhyme, “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, A Sixpence in your Shoe” and simply means they are carried as good luck charms.

Each item represents the following:

  • Something Old – Continuity
  • Something New– Optimism for the Future
  • Something Borrowed – Borrowed Happiness
  • Something Blue – Purity, Love and Fidelity
  • A Sixpence in your Shoe – A wish for Good Fortune and Prosperity
Usually, it’s quite easy to find something old (i.e. heirloom jewelry), new (i.e. the dress!) and borrowed (i.e. a broach in your hair), but blue can be a tricky one! Here are a few ways you can incorporate that “Something Blue” into your wedding attire:

Garter from Etsy
Rhinestone Shoe Stickers from Etsy
