Laura and Chad were married on Saturday, October 6 at beautiful Oldfield Plantation. We had the honor and pleasure of working with them from the start of their planning experience. From tastings to design, we just adored working with this beautiful couple to plan their unforgettable day and could tell by the smiles that illuminated their faces, they were over the moon happy with the outcome.

Laura and Chad’s color palette was very crisp and clean. She wanted to embrace the natural beauty that inhabits Oldfield so she settled on a palette of various shades of green, ivory and chocolate brown. They wanted their wedding day to be traditional, but fresh. The table linens were a rich and luxurious green jacquard pattern, which were topped with beautiful arrangements of crisp white flowers. Mercury glass elements were sprinkled throughout the reception space and were illuminated by hundreds of softly flickering candles. The beautifully moss-draped oak trees were lit with specialty uplighting by JLK Events, which allowed the branches to peek through the tent and be part of the reception space. Beyond the oak trees sparkled thousands of bright starts and a stunning crescent moon that seemed to smile down on Laura and Chad’s marital bliss.

Hello followers, fans, and future clients! My Name is Kylie Lee and I’m one of the wedding coordinators for Embellished Events! I wanted to take the time to properly introduce myself to you as I usually spend most of my time behind the scenes making the most important day of our bride’s lives absolutely perfect.  I am 24 years old and I was born and raised in a small town about 65 miles from Savannah and Hilton Head called Sylvania, GA, where I still reside today. In addition to working with Jen at Embellished Events, I am also attending working towards my Bachelor’s degree in Marketing at Georgia Southern University.

I have over 4 years of experience in the wedding planning industry and joined the Embellished Events team in 2011. Like Jen, I consider our brides to be more like friends or family. I take a lot of pride in getting to know our clients and their families, as each one is special and unique to us. I love the little details that go into making each wedding unique. I enjoy seeing brides incorporate family traditions and heirlooms or something that sparks a special memory in their hearts.  We love helping our brides take an idea as simple as a love for polka dots and transform it into something unique and hopefully trend setting.

When I am not working or attending school, I spend time with my 6-year-old daughter, Camdyn. She just started Kindergarten this year and is always on the go, but her smile and quirky personality makes every day worth all the hard work and determination it takes to keep up with her.   In my free time, I enjoy traveling, watching movies, cooking, going to the beach and spending time with friends and family…and SHOPPING, we can’t forget shopping!

According to The Knot’s 2012 Destination Wedding Survey results, “nearly 1 in 4 couples (24%) had a destination wedding in 2011, a significant increase from 20% in 2009. Not only were there more destination weddings, but there were significantly more weddings hosted in the continental U.S, which is great news for U.S. wedding venues and the weddings industry at large. In 2011, 70% of couples who hosted a destination wedding chose a venue in the U.S. compared to 60% in 2009. The top domestic wedding destinations include Florida, California, Nevada, North Carolina and South Carolina.”

The survey also concluded that 51% of destination wedding couples use a wedding planner and it’s no wonder. When planning from afar, you’re likely only able to make a handful of trips to your destination wedding location in preparation for the big day. Hiring a wedding planner allows you to have a local “in” on finding all of the best vendors and venues, without sacrificing any of your precious time researching.  With all of the benefits of hiring a planner, it’s well worth every penny you’ll spend. Make it the first thing you do in your planning process and you’ll have a joyous and stress-free planning experience. Remember, peace of mind is PRICELESS!

1. 350,000 destination weddings take place annually, representing 24% of all weddings
2. The average destination bride is 30 years old
3. Destination weddings have an average of 86 guests
4. 70% of destination weddings take place in the continental US
5. Florida, California and Nevada are the top three destination wedding locations in the continental US
6. 30% of destination weddings take place outside the continental US
7. The Caribbean, Mexico and Hawaii are the most popular wedding locations outside the continental US
8. 51% of destination wedding couples use a wedding planner
9. 69% of destination weddings are held outdoors
10. 10.86% of couples still plan to take a honeymoon after their destination wedding
